Insurers call for action on adaptation
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has launched a new research report on climate change, flood risk, new building developments and insurance. ABI recommends that new developments need to take account of the different environment they will experience over their lifetime, in particular increases in flood risk.

International adaptation viewed via Google Earth
The Stockholm Environment Institute, as part of the weADAPT network, is working with Google Earth to map worldwide climate adaptation work onto Google maps.

Launch of the Yorkshire & Humber Regional Biodiversity Strategy - 27 January 2009
The Regional Biodiversity Strategy was launched by the Y&H Regional Biodiversity Forum on Tuesday 27 January 2009.
The Strategy sets out a framework for the integration of biodiversity into regional and local polices programmes and processes and promotes a more joined-up approach to biodiversity. It complements and implements the biodiversity elements of the Regional Spatial Strategy.

UK climate change sustainable development indicator: 2007 greenhouse gas emissions, final figures
DECC today publishes final 2007 estimates of UK greenhouse gas emissions.
Greenhouse gas emissions - headline results
* In 2007, UK emissions of the basket of six greenhouse gases(1) covered by the Kyoto Protocol were estimated to be 636.6 million tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent(2). This was 1.7 per cent lower than the 2006 figure of 647.9 million tonnes.

We intend these to be active and open consultation processes, and are keen to hear from the households, businesses and communities who will be affected by the proposals. Government also needs to hear from local government, community groups, NGOs and the supply chain and installation companies that will support delivery on the ground.

Consultation on The Severn Tidal Power Feasibility Study
Welcome to the Government's first Severn Tidal Power Feasibility Study Consultation.
The study - which is now roughly half way through - is gathering and assessing up-to-date evidence to enable Government to decide whether or not to support tidal power development in the Severn Estuary.
